Henderson Castle

Kalamazoo’s Henderson Castle doubles as a historic bed and breakfast and haunted house. It was once the Victorian-era home of one of the city’s elite businessman, Frank Henderson. Spend a night or two in this lodging for a chance to hear the strange noises and see the ghost of Henderson’s wife Mary that some guests claim to have experienced.

One of the state’s oldest lighthouses, the Pointe aux Barques Lighthouse is located in Port Hope, and overlooks Lake Huron. Though it was built back in 1848, the first keeper purportedly drowned soon after it opened for use, leaving behind his family. Visitors have occasionally heard footsteps and and smelled the scent of tobacco smoke when visiting the lighthouse. Others have claimed they’ve seen a woman dressed in mourning on the nearby cliffs.

The Whitney

Discover a new favorite cocktail at The Whitney, a popular upscale restaurant in Detroit that just happens to be the home of David Whitney Jr.’s ghost. Bring a friend and enjoy some ghost tales as you keep your eyes peeled for a sight of the specter.

The Paulding Light

Head to Bruce Crossing to potentially view the Paulding Light for yourself. It’s a mysterious light, considered to be the ghost of a railroad brakeman, that many report seeing at night. The exact location where the light has been seen is a bit tricky to find. But if you’re up for the challenge, set your GPS to Old US 45 and Forest Highway 181, Bruce Crossing, MI 49912.
