It may be affordable, but it looks like a million bucks

Purchasing a car is a major investment, and it’s easy to feel like the only way to get a safe, reliable ride is to spend a small fortune. However, Nissan is challenging this notion by offering affordable vehicles that don’t skimp on features. In that spirit, the 2020 Nissan Versa was named on U.S. News and World Report’s recent ranking of the 16 best cars available for under $16,000 in 2019.

Coming in at a surprisingly low sticker price of $14,730, U.S. News praised the fully redesigned 2020 Versa for its roomy interior, robust standard safety technologies, and 4.5 out of five overall reliability rating. The publication also made note of the high-quality interior, especially for such an appealing cost.
This sentiment echoes U.S. News’ full review of the 2020 Versa, which emphasized just how impressive the complete redesign makes the subcompact car. They highlighted the increased driver legroom, the competitive cargo space within its class, the standard seven-inch infotainment display, an increase in horsepower over the 2019 model, and above-average gas mileage of 40 mpg on the highway.

They also had nothing but good things to say about the Versa’s standard driver-assist and safety features, which include pedestrian detection, lane departure warnings, automatic high-beam headlights, and forward and reverse automatic braking. You can also choose to add blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, driver alertness monitoring, and a rear-seat reminder. These are the same features available on cars that cost over twice as much.
All of these reasons contributed to the 2020 Nissan Versa being named one of U.S. News’ six best subcompact cars, outpacing competition like the Ford Fiesta, Chevy Spark, and Volkswagen Beetle. For comparison, the base model of the Beetle costs over $6,000 more than the basic Versa.
