Audi Hits the Big Screen in Avengers: Age of Ultron
Dodge may have had the upper hand when it came to Furious 7, starring Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker, but it was Audi who scored big in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the latest movie from the Marvel world. Audi has an exclusive auto-brand promotion with the film, meaning that, while other cars may be spotted during the film, it is only Audi that gets its vehicles highlighted.
Tony Stark (Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr.) specifically prefers the Audi R8. The movie even shows off its self-driving capabilities as it drives through Avengers headquarters. Other Audi models to grace the screen include the A3 Cabriolet and the TTS.
Audi took its exclusive partnership to other media as well. For instance, Audi was featured in a YouTube video called “Striking – Extended Version,” which has more than 6 million views and which features a sneak peek at Marvel’s Antman, due out this summer. Antman, which will star Paul Rudd, will feature an Audi A3 Cabriolet. In addition, Audi sponsored a “Superhero Marathon” on FX in April to get viewers amped for the Age of Ultron.
It looks like it was a good investment for Audi, as Avengers: Age of Ultron took home $191.3 million here in the United States in its first weekend, and has passed $630 million globally since April 22nd. Take that, Furious 7.
