Buick Retail Sales Increase as Encore Sees Best February Ever

Buick posted retail sales totaling 15,480 units in February, a year-over-year increase of 8.1% that’s good for the brand’s best February retail sales performance since 2004. Total sales, however, amounted to 16,131 units, a decrease of 9.4% year-over-year.

Buick’s overall sales decline was the result of double-digit year-over-year drops from the Enclave, LaCrosse, Regal, and Verano. Sales of the Enclave dipped 27.9% at 2,973 units, sales of the LaCrosse fell 49% at 1,348 units, sales of the Regal dropped 36.4% with 1,023 units, and Verano sales decreased 84.1% at 488 units.

Leading Buick at retail and overall were the Encore, Envision, and Cascada. The Encore set a new retail sales record for February and logged total sales of 6,528 units, a year-over-year increase of 11.2%. Two months into the year, Encore sales are up 9.2% at 11,786 units, making it responsible for more than 40% of all new Buicks sold in 2017 so far. Sales of the Encore totaled 78,565 units in 2016, more than a third of Buick’s 223,055 vehicle sales.

Envision sales continued to excel with 3,139 units deliver, bringing its to-date total to 5,326 units. Since debuting in 2016, deliveries of the Chinese-built Envision has totaled 19,519 units. Cascada sales increased 27.7% year-over-year with 632 units, bringing its to-date total to 944 units. Buick sold a total of 7,153 Cascada convertibles in 2016.

Through February, Buick’s total US sales total 29,248 units, down 18.9% year-over-year. Retail sales total 28,077 units, down 5.7% year-over-year.
