The 2019 Hyundai Kona has won widespread recognition (and strong Canadian sales) for its value and fun-to-drive characteristics. Earlier this year, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) added its voice to the chorus of praise, awarding the Kona as 2019’s best small utility vehicle.

AJAC gave the Kona high ratings for its interior and exterior styling, safety features, infotainment tech, smooth and responsive performance, and comfortable yet spirited handling.

It’s been an incredible first year for the Kona, and we’re thrilled to be recognized for our innovative, industry-leading work in this segment,” said Don Romano, the president and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. “Expanding our range of SUVs to best meet the needs of Canadians is a top priority for Hyundai, and being acknowledged as leaders in the category shows that we’re absolutely moving in the right direction.”

The Kona features a lightweight, rigid new chassis that balances comfort and character, allowing for performance that surpasses expectations for the subcompact SUV segment. Other major selling points for the Kona include its strikingly sporty exterior design, its fuel efficiency, and its spacious interior.

The Kona also comes with a wide variety of standard infotainment and safety technologies that offer superior value for budget-conscious drivers. These include a 7-inch touch-screen system, steering wheel-mounted audio and phone controls, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist.
