FRIGHTFEST at Harvest Moon Drive-In Theatre
During October, catch a spine-chilling film at one of the Halloween movie nights at the Harvest Moon Drive-In Theatre in Gibson City, IL, about 40 minutes east of Bloomington. Dubbed FRIGHTFEST, this seasonal film celebration is now in its ninth year. The movie night dates are as follows: Oct. 1, 2-4, 9-11, 15, and 16-18. Mark your calendar for Oct. 31 for Oswego’s Monster Mash Bash Drive-Thru Trick or Treat. Prairie Point Community Park will host this half-hour event that lasts from noon through 12:30 p.m. Gloved and masked community leaders will hand out goodie bags to costumed kids while participants stay safe in their vehicles.
Decorating your car’s trunk is a great way to celebrate Halloween while social distancing
Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat in Genoa
This year, Genoa Township Park District will hold its annual “Halloween Happenings” event as a drive-thru trunk or treat. The celebration will occur on Oct. 31 from 1-3 p.m. Participation is free, however, you do need to pre-register so the organizers know how many attendees to expect. Hall-O-Boo Drive-Thru in Romeoville
Ring in Beggar’s Night with the Village of Romeo on Friday, Oct. 23. Free to the public, the Hall-O-Boo Drive-Thru event will start at 5:30 and end at 7:30 p.m. (Though, the rain date is Monday, Oct. 26 at the same time.) Per the event’s website, age-appropriate entertainment will help set the mood for young participants. Make sure to arrive early since the first 500 children to arrive will receive a free small pumpkin.
