Honda Adds Electric Charging Stations to 152 Canadian Dealerships
Today Honda announced that 152 dealerships across Canada have committed to installing two level 2 electric chargers on-site by the end of the 2017.
That number represents nearly two-thirds of the Japanese automaker’s dealer network in the Great White North, and shows the company’s commitment to the electrification of its vehicle lineup (and the subsequent greening of the planet).
“The investment by our dealer network is an indication of our commitment to supporting Honda’s Global 2030 Vision of electrifying two thirds of our fleet,” said Jean Marc Leclerc, the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Honda Canada. “This electrification project is essential to our future business as we begin to introduce more electrified vehicles in Canada starting with the Clarity Plug-In Hybrid sedan later this winter.”
Honda says that it expects to complete the ambitious infrastructure improvement project before the arrival of the Clarity Plug-In Electric Hybrid, which launches later this winter. That vehicle’s anticipated average charge time is two and half hours at 240 volts for a full charge of a 17-kilowatt hour (kWh) battery pack. The upcoming Clarity Plug-In Electric Hybrid is also anticipated to boast an overall driving range in excess of 530km (329 miles) and an estimated all electric range of 68km (42 miles), as the eco-friendly vehicles seeks to ease Canadian drivers’ concerns about driving range by providing a no-compromise alternative fuel vehicle that meets the needs of modern customers while building the foundation of an electrified future.
The 2017 Honda Clarity Electric sedan just launched at select dealerships in California and Oregon today, carrying an introductory lease price of $269 (plus tax) a month for 36 months. Rounding out the Clarity lineup, the initial Clarity Fuel Cell went on sale in America in December of last year, carrying a $369 a month lease.
