IIHS Bestows Top Safety Pick Rating on 2019 Jeep Cherokee

The most capable SUV in its class — the Jeep Cherokee — can now add safety star to its long list of attributes. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has awarded the 2019 Jeep Cherokee with a Top Safety Pick Rating when the capable, fun-to-drive, smooth-performing midsize SUV features LED projector headlamps with optional automatic high-beam control and two innovative driver assist technologies, Forward Collision Warning-Plus, and Automatic Emergency Braking.

“This latest award is solid recognition for the Jeep Cherokee, an SUV that is not only recognized for being the most capable vehicle in its class, but also packed with more than 80 advanced safety and security features and benchmark 4×4 systems to help consumers tackle any terrain in all weather conditions,” says Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA North America. “Jeep Cherokee provides the confidence and security to handle any journey.”

Jeep Cherokee models also must boast a production date after April 2019, to qualify for the Top Safety Pick rating, which is determined by achieving the highest scores in six crashworthiness tests administered by the agency.

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee is equipped with standard safety features including All Speed Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Trailer Sway Damping, Electronic Roll Mitigation, and a ParkView Rear Back Up Camera. Driver assist technologies such as Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning System, and ParkSense Rear Park Assist with Stop, designed to help you see dangers on your side and behind you, keep you alert to your lane position, and warn you if you’re in danger of hitting an obstacle when parking, respectively, are available features on the 2019 Cherokee.
