2017 Jeep Wrangler
College grads in the market for a car to take them into their hard-earned post-graduation future might want to put the Jeep Wrangler on their short lists. According to the experts at Autotrader, the Jeep Wrangler (model years, 2012-2017) is one of the 10 Best Cars for Recent College Graduates.
“If you’re planning on doing some serious off-roading or if you just love the classic military-inspired styling, the Jeep WranglerOpens a New Window. is a great choice. Unfortunately, it depreciates pretty slowly, so if you’re shopping on a budget you’re going to want to look at the previous JK generation of this SUV rather than the new JL model that just came out in 2018. The JK generation of the Wrangler actually started way back in 2007, which is probably before you were even in middle school, but it got a nice update in 2012 with a more powerful V6 engine, a new automatic transmission, and most importantly, standard 4-wheel drive,” according to Autotrader.
The 3.6-liter V6 24-vallve VVT engine, mated to either the standard six-speed manual transmission or available five-speed automatic transmission, is rated at 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque in the 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The 2017 model earns an EPA-estimated rating of 17 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.
The 2017 Wrangler sports the classic Jeep design with elements such as a seven-slot grille and boxy silhouette. Equipped with standard skid plates, 16-inch steel wheels, and tow hooks, the 2017 Wrangler is well-equipped for off-road adventures. Plus, it earns a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.
