Since opening a manufacturing plant nearly 10 years ago in West Point, Georgia, Kia has sent millions of vehicles along the assembly line and to consumers across the nation. The first model built at Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia was the second generation Sorento. It now manufactures the third generation Sorento, fourth generation Optima, and first generation Telluride. KMMG recently hit a milestone of producing its 3 millionth vehicle, a white 2020 Telluride SX Prestige.

The decision to build KMMG turned out to be quite beneficial for Kia, as it has evolved into a $1.1 billion investment and has produced more than 40 percent of all Kia vehicles sold in the U.S. Along with the assembly area — which includes stamping, welding, and paint — KMMG also has a transmission shop, module shop, and a two-mile test track.

“Producing three million vehicles in less than 10 years is another example of the commitment and results of the KMMG Team’s ‘One System, One Team’ philosophy,” said KMMG President and CEO Jangsoo (Jason) Shin. “The world-class quality that goes into every Telluride, Sorento and Optima we build is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our team members, and today we salute their commitment to excellence.”

The KMMG plant has received recognition from prestigious organizations like J.D. Power, Consumer Reports, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and many more for its commitment to the quality, reliability, and performance of the models produced. With a new Head of Design at the helm combined with the KMMG facility’s level of excellence, it will likely produce its 4 millionth vehicle very soon.
