Positioned below the Air sedan and Gravity SUV, the midsize crossover is central to Lucid’s effort to expand beyond the premium segment. The vehicle is scheduled to be fully revealed sometime this summer.

Lucid has so far shared only limited teaser material for its third production model. The newly circulated image, posted on X by user @john61640 near Lucid’s facility in Casa Grande, Arizona, appears to show a camouflaged prototype and provides an opportunity to compare it directly with one of its intended rivals.

According to InsideEVs, the publication has not independently confirmed that the camouflaged vehicle is the Cosmos. Still, the visible proportions and design cues align with previously released teasers from Lucid.

A First Side-by-Side Look Against the Model Y

The prototype shown in the image appears close in overall size to the Tesla Model Y parked nearby. From the available view, the Lucid vehicle seems to adopt a lower greenhouse and presents more of a tall hatchback profile than a conventional SUV.

The silhouette has similarities to a smaller version of the Gravity SUV, with a more pronounced fastback-style rear section. By comparison, the Model Y shown in the image appears taller through the cabin area and features a more rounded greenhouse with an even stronger fastback treatment.

The camouflage conceals many exterior details, although several design elements remain partially visible. The dashboard appears to incorporate a large display stretching across most of the cabin width, though not extending fully from pillar to pillar as seen in the Mercedes-Benz GLC EV. The shape of the front lighting elements can also be partially distinguished despite the camouflage pattern.

Pricing Positions Cosmos as Lucid’s Entry Point

Price is expected to be the defining factor for the Cosmos within Lucid’s lineup. Lucid has stated that the crossover will start below $50,000, making it the most affordable vehicle the company has offered to date. At present, Lucid’s lowest-priced model is the Air Pure sedan, which starts above $70,000.

The exact pricing structure remains unknown. According to InsideEVs, Lucid is unlikely to price the Cosmos below the Tesla Model Y, which currently starts at $39,990 in its entry-level configuration formerly known as the Model Y Standard.

Lucid has confirmed that the Cosmos will use its new Atlas drive unit. The company has not disclosed whether the vehicle will be offered in a single-motor configuration or whether all-wheel drive will be standard across the range.

Efficiency and Charging Are Expected to Define the Package

Lucid’s current lineup offers some indication of possible positioning choices, although no drivetrain details for Cosmos have been finalized.

The Gravity SUV is currently available only with all-wheel drive, while the Air sedan can be configured with a single rear-mounted motor producing 430 horsepower. The report notes that another direct competitor, the Rivian R2, is planned with an entry-level rear-wheel-drive single-motor version.

Lucid’s stated differentiator for the Cosmos is efficiency. According to the company, the crossover is expected to exceed the efficiency levels of existing Lucid models through the use of updated motors.

The company’s current target is a range of 300 miles using a 69-kilowatt-hour battery pack. Lucid also expects the vehicle to recover 200 miles of driving range during a 14-minute charging session.
