Mitsubishi has recently been celebrating several consecutive months of sales growth. Of course, that sales momentum had to slow at some point, and April’s sales numbers reveal that time is now.

Nevertheless, the Mitsubishi Outlander’s growing sales did not slow, with a sales increase of 6.3 percent.

Mitsubishi Sales Milestones: Mitsubishi celebrates successful sales in 2018

Mitsubishi Outlander sales totaled 2,408 units last month. During April of 2018, Mitsubishi only sold 2,266 Outlanders.

The Outlander’s sales so far this year have also increased by 5.1 percent. Mitsubishi has delivered 16,148 Outlander vehicles so far this year.

The smaller Outlander Sport was not so lucky last month. Outlander Sport sales were down by 35.8 percent, with 1,468 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport vehicles sold.

The Outlander PHEV also lost sales. With only 163 Outlander PHEVs sold nationwide last month, sales fell 40.3 percent.

An Expanding Line of Utility Vehicles: Mitsubishi’s SUV lineup is going through a growth spurt

Fortunately for Mitsubishi, the Eclipse Cross was able to replenish some sales momentum. Mitsubishi sold 920 new Eclipse Cross vehicles last month, a 40.5 percent sales increase.

Mitsubishi was also able to mitigate sales losses for its Mirage subcompact car. While sales for the Mirage did fall from 2,069 units to 2,004 units, that only accounts for a slight 3.1 percent sales decline.

Year-to-date Mirage sales are actually up by 8.5 percent. This is in a market where sedans and hatchback are rapidly falling out of favor.

Overall, Mitsubishi delivered 6,963 new vehicles in April. This accounts for a 12.9 percent sales decline.

Yet, Mitsubishi’s year-to-date sales are still up. With 49,030 new vehicles delivered, Mitsubishi sales are up by an impressive 12 percent.
