The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has awarded the new 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek with the organization’s highest safety rating. Both the gas and hybrid versions of the crossover SUV earned a 5-Star Safety Rating from the Federal government, after passing recently conducted crash tests with flying colors.

The new 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek received four stars in the front crash test, four stars in the rollover crash test, and five stars in the side crash test, for a final score of five stars overall, the highest rating awarded by the NHTSA. The top safety ratings are par for the course when it comes to Subaru, a company which began testing its own vehicles in the 1960s, before such official testing was mandated.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not yet rated the new 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek, although the 2014 model was an IIHS Top Safety Pick last year.

The all-new 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek gas and hybrid versions will both go on sale later this fall.
