New 6.2-Liter HEMI Hellcat V8 Named to Ward’s 10 Best Engines
3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 also makes the cut
Both Chrysler Group’s 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V8 and the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 have made it onto the 2015 10 Best Engines list put out by WardsAuto. This marks the second year for the EcoDiesel, which is an optional powertrain for the 2015 Ram 1500. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 makes the Ram 1500 the most efficient pickup on the market and was the only winning engine to be tested in a truck.
This is the first year on the market for the 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V8, but because of its stunning performance, it does not come as any surprise that it made the list. The Hellcat engine, which powers the 2015 Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcats, is good for 707 horsepower, making it the most powerful engine ever to have made Ward’s list.
“These two distinctly different engines represent the wide range of powertrain-engineering expertise and technology at Chrysler Group,” said Bob Lee, the Vice President and Head of Engine, Powertrain, and Electrified Propulsion Systems Engineering for Chrysler Group. “For their considerable might, they also are both highly efficient and refined – key hallmarks of Chrysler Group powertrains. Such attributes have helped power our vehicles to the top of the sales charts.”
Congrats to Chrysler Group for both engines’ victories.
