The Urus is currently offered with a plug-in hybrid V-8 powertrain, and this is unlikely to change. The teaser suggests that Lamborghini may be preparing a sharper version of its high-performance SUV rather than a completely different model.
Lamborghini shared the image on its social media channels with the message: “A new chapter is taking shape. Join us live on lamborghini.com and YouTube. July 1st. Save the Date.” For now, the company has not released full technical details.
A Teaser Image Focused On Aerodynamic Changes
The teaser shows the rear end of a lime-colored Lamborghini Urus covered by a shroud. Even with the vehicle partially hidden, two details stand out clearly.
The first is a prominent spoiler rising from the lip of the rear liftgate. The second is a low-profile wing extending from the SUV’s roofline. These elements suggest that the new version may place greater emphasis on aerodynamic performance.
According to Car and Driver, Lamborghini has not yet confirmed the name of the variant. The company has only announced that more information will be presented during the July 1 reveal on its official website and YouTube channel.
The Lamborghini Urus Has Already Evolved Since Its 2019 Launch
When the Lamborghini Urus first went on sale for the 2019 model year, it used a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 producing 641 horsepower. That version could reach 60 mph in 3.1 seconds.
By 2023, output had increased to 657 horsepower. Lamborghini also introduced the Urus Performante, a more track-focused version with unique suspension, larger wheels, race-grade tires, and weight-saving changes.
The new teaser appears to continue that performance-oriented direction, although Lamborghini has not confirmed whether the upcoming model will use the Performante name or a different designation.

A Plug-in Hybrid V-8 Remains Central To The Current Urus
For 2026, every Lamborghini Urus still uses a V-8 engine, now assisted by an electric motor. Together, the system produces 789 horsepower.
Lamborghini has said all future performance derivatives will be hybrids. That means the new Urus variant is expected to stay within the current plug-in hybrid V-8 framework rather than move away from it.
The full picture will become clearer on July 1, when Lamborghini presents the new Urus variant. For now, the teaser highlights a more aggressive rear design and signals that the brand is preparing another step in the SUV’s performance evolution.
