New available features
Appropriately dubbed the Tech Package, this bundle of features adds a handful of advanced driver-assist tools. First, you’ll have access to Front and Rear Park Assist, which uses ultrasonic sensors to alert you if you’re getting to close to any objects while parking. It adds a head-up display, which projects important driving information, like your speed and navigation data, onto the windshield so you never have to take your eyes off the road. Finally, it also gives you HD Surround Vision, which provides a bird’s eye view of your surroundings while you’re maneuvering at low speed.
Adding these features will set you back $850. However, in order to add the Tech Package, you’ll need to get the $645 GMC Pro Safety Plus Package. This bundle contains Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Lane Change Assist with Side Blind Zone Alert.
Other updates for 2022
For 2022, the GMC Sierra is fresh off of a mid-cycle enhancement. Now it boasts a new look, an updated cabin, and the off-road-oriented AT4 trim level. It also gained wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity, an updated Head-Up Display, a new steering wheel, now-standard SiriusXM radio, and the ability to disable the engine’s start/stop technology. Plus, GMC trimmed the old entry-level SL model, so the better-equipped SLE is the new base model. It also ditched the 2.0-liter turbo engine option due to low demand.
In terms of paint colors, the Terrain no longer offers Blue Emerald Metallic, Graphite Gray Metallic, Satin Steel Metallic, and Red Quartz Tintcoat. Fortunately, that void has been filled by four new colors: Marine Metallic, Hunter Metallic, Cayenne Red Metallic, and Desert Sand Metallic.
