GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE. You’ve waited and waited, and the time has finally come for the Nissan European August sales to be revealed. Despite the fact that Nissan’s overall sales were down marginally (37,579 units in 2014 versus 37,725 units last year), the automaker improved its market share by 0.6 percent by pulling consistent performances from the Qashqai, JUKE, and Micra.

In spite of early projections indicating that the Russian car market was down 26 percent for the month as the country’s president continues to act like a lunatic, Russia stood as Nissan’s top European market by a wide margin with 10,274 units sold in August.

The UK was Nissan’s second-largest market with 8,706 units sold, followed by Germany (3,401 vehicles), France (2,617 vehicles), and Italy (2,380 vehicles). In the latter-most market, Nissan is the number one Asian car brand for the second month in a row with a strong market share of 3.7 percent. Nissan’s market share in France was 3.5 percent, the second best ever in August for the company.

Additionally, Nissan sold 1,200 LEAFs in Europe during the month, indicating continued interest in the automaker’s electric vehicle alternative.
