[Photos] BMW Debuts the 2020 M8 Gran Coupe and M8 Gran Coupe Competition
BMW recently introduced a pair of luxurious new vehicles to its lineup: the 2020 M8 Gran Coupe and M8 Gran Coupe Competition. While both vehicles were curated with the spirited M performance in mind, they differ ever so slightly in length, width, and — of course — power.
Which Brand is Better? Here’s how BMW does against Mercedes-Benz
First Edition
The BMW M8 Gran Coupe first edition will be limited to 50 units in the U.S. and will be created in March 2020. It will feature a distinct Individual Diamant Green Metallic exterior color that’s exclusive to this model. Accenting the lush green exterior will be the GOLDBRONZE kidney grille, side air breather, door mirrors, window-surround, door sills, badging, and attractive 20-inch forged M star-spoke wheels. Inside, the cabin will be covered in BMW Individual Ivory White/Tartufo Full Merino leather and Piano Black trim.
Power and performance
Under the hood of the 2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe will be a 4.4-liter S63 M TwinPower Turbo V8 capable of producing a whopping 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. The Competition model has an uprated unit that can generate 617 hp. The M8 Gran Coupe can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds while the Competition shaves off .01 with its 0-60 time. Both models will have advanced cooling systems made of two separate water circuits. What this means is that the turbochargers and intercoolers will receive sufficient coolant flow after the engine has been turned off. (No overheating even when you rev it to the max!)
Luxury Lifestyle: Keep your vehicle lasting with these vital tips
Production for the standard models began this month. Pricing for the M8 Gran Coupe starts at $130,000 plus fees while the M8 Gran Coupe Competition starts at $143,000 plus additional fees.
