Hyundai Introduces Eco-Friendly 2020 Ioniq Lineup

The 2020 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid, and Ioniq Electric have arrived with refreshed looks, new infotainment tech, and upgraded safety systems. The Ioniq Electric also boasts significantly expanded driving range for the new model year.

Each powertrain available in the 2020 Ioniq lineup offers outstanding efficiency:

  • The Ioniq Hybrid combines a 1.6-liter GDI engine, a 32 kW electric motor, and a six-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission to achieve a combined 58 mpg.
  • The Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid uses the 1.6-liter engine, a 45 kW electric motor, and the same dual-clutch transmission. In all-electric mode, this model can travel 29 miles and get 119 MPGe. In hybrid mode, it gets a combined 52 mpg.
  • The Ioniq Electric features a new 38.3 kWh battery, a 134-horsepower electric motor, the ability to reach an 80 percent charge in less than an hour, and 133 combined MPGe fuel economy. New for 2020, this model can drive 170 miles between charges, compared to 124 miles for the previous model year.

On the exterior, each 2020 Ioniq model features a more aerodynamic design, a new grille and wheels, and available LED lamps. Interior design changes include a gloss-finished HVAC control panel, blue ambient lighting, a standard 8-inch infotainment touch screen, and a new available 10.25-inch Audio Video Navigation system. The interior and exterior of each model also boast a variety of recycled and eco-friendly paints, plastics, and other materials.

The 2020 Ioniq also comes with a generous array of standard SmartSense safety technologies, including Front Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, High Beam Assist, and Driver Attention Warning. Available options include Pedestrian Detection and new Cyclist Detection, Smart Cruise Control, Lane Following Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and Blind-Spot Collision Warning.
