Saudi Arabia, Finland, Japan, and Germany aren’t the only countries with challenging license application processes. Here are four more countries to add to the list.

Norway

To get a driver’s license in Norway, you’ll have to complete a thorough regimen of driver’s training courses at a registered driving school. The program includes night driving and a traffic course, as well as first aid and accident training. Finally, you’ll take theory and practical driving tests.

France

Getting a French driver’s license involves taking driving theory tests at a registered driving school. You’ll also have to provide the following documents during the application process: proof of identity, two passport-sized photos, residency permit and medical certificates establishing your fitness to drive.

South Africa

The first step to getting a driver’s license in this region is to obtain a learners License from the Driving License Testing Centers (DLTC). You’ll also have to provide an identity document and two ID photographs in black and white, as well as pay the required fee and complete a DL1 form. Finally, you must complete a driving test, after which you earn a temporary driver’s license which you keep for six months. After this period, you’ll receive a permanent license.

Singapore

Driver’s license applicants must be 18 years age or older. You must then pass both an informal and formal training program for driver’s ed — both are pretty challenging, as the pass rate stats indicate. The pass rate for the first training is only 33 percent, while the pass rate for the second one is 60 percent. Finally, you’ll take theory and practical driving tests. You must answer 45 (or more) questions out of the 50 questions on the test, in order to pass the theory test.
