Sarah-Jayne Williams Tapped by Ford to Head European Smart Mobility Efforts
Ford has named Sarah-Jayne Williams the first director of its European Smart Mobility unit. Williams, founder of the BearingPoint Foundation and former winner of the Management Consulting Association’s Marketing Consultant of the Year, will report to both Ford of Europe President and CEO Steven Armstrong and Ford’s Vice President of Global Operations for Smart Mobility, John Larsen.
“We’re delighted to welcome Sarah-Jayne to the Ford team in Europe,” said Armstrong. “Her role is to tackle urban transportation challenges and opportunities, and respond to the growth of the sharing economy by defining and implementing Ford of Europe’s Smart Mobility strategy. She will focus on accelerating the launch of mobility services across Europe through collaboration—especially with cities—innovation, and growing the existing team.”

Of considerable focus for Williams will be support of the Ford City Solutions team, which she will accomplish by working with city planners, public transportation agencies, and communities in Europe with the intention of developing solutions to solve current and future mobility challenges.
“The auto industry is on the cusp of a revolution as great as that when Henry Ford first made the car accessible to the masses over 100 years ago,” said Williams. “I’m looking forward to joining the Ford team and to being part of its adventure into the world of Smart Mobility.”
Williams has been a part of BearingPoint for the past 14 years, where she worked as part of the Automotive team, led the Connected Car Center of Excellence, and established the BearingPoint Foundation. Williams is also the co-author of the book Customer Paradoxes in a Digital World, and she has published numerous works on topics ranging from data privacy to connected vehicles.
