Towing and hauling power is impressive in diesel-powered trucks and coveted by drivers in need of a formidable vehicle. Drivers looking for such power should get behind the wheel of the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 or GMC 2500/3500 HD models. The well-equipped trucks just made U.S. News & World Report’s list of the Best Diesel Trucks of 2020.

The 2020 GMC Sierra offers an available 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

“Offered in SLE and higher trims, the diesel is smooth and refined, with quick acceleration,” according to U.S. News & World Report Jim Travers.

When properly equipped, the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 can tow a maximum weight of 9,000 pounds, but that’s not all that impressed the editors at U.S. News & World Report.

“With a comfortable ride, spacious seats, and easy-to-use tech features, the GMC Sierra is an appealing choice among pickups,” Travers notes.

Completely redesigned for 2020, the GMC Sierra 2500/3500HD models also impressed the editors with their outstanding capability and strength as well as the features that make wielding heavy loads a more approachable task.

“The result is a Sierra HD with up to 35,500 pounds of towing capability when ordered with the 445-horsepower 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine and its 910 lb-ft of torque,” Travers reports. “To help with towing those big loads, the Sierra HD is available with a host of available special features, including up to 15 different camera views. One of those cameras even lets drivers see behind their trailer.”
