2017 Buick Encore China

The Buick Encore is a hot-ticket item in pretty much any market, but it has been particularly popular in China. Since launching in October 2012, more than a quarter-million Encores—260,000 to be precise—have been delivered throughout the country. Now, Buick is looking to lure in current Encore drivers and luxury customers who own vehicles from other brands alike with the June 18th launch of the all-new, new-look 2017 Buick Encore.

The updated Encore will arrive later this month with Buick’s new face, including the sharp new grille style originally revealed on the Avenir Concept in early 2015. The new Encore will also offer an intelligent power sunroof with anti-pinch functionality, LED daytime running lights, multifunction steering wheel, reverse-sensing radar system, heated rearview mirror, and roof-mounted luggage rack side rails.

Other available features new for the updated model include full-LED headlights, the improved Buick IntelliLink system with Baidu CarLife, OnStar, keyless entry with push-button start, cruise control, and tire pressure monitoring system.

The Encore will be powered by the same 1.4-liter turbocharged engine as the previous version, which can be mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed DSS intelligent transmission, with the latter featuring stop/start technology. Buick’s intelligent all-wheel drive is also available as an option.

Otherwise, the 2017 Buick Encore is not terribly dissimilar in size, shape, or presence from the current-generation model. Given that that same version of the Encore is among the most popular vehicles in its segment in both China and the world over, chances are pretty good that it will attract new and old customers all the same.
