What’s New?

While the primary structure of the GMC Canyon has remained the same, there are a few new additions to the 2017 model. The 2018 GMC Canyon now comes standard with a washer fluid level sensor across all trim levels, including the Denali. Drivers can also opt for available leather-appointed front seating on the All Terrain; this seating is in Jet Black with Cobalt Red stitching.

Designed with a standout, rugged exterior, the 2018 GMC Canyon stands out in its segment. Sitting on a bold frame, the Canyon offers several cab and bed configurations. Drivers can choose between the extended cab model (6-foot 2-inch bed), crew cab (5-foot 2-inch bed), and the longer crew cab (6-foot 2-inch bed). For a unique look, the Denali offers a one-of-a-kind chrome grill to distinguish it from its counterparts in the segment.

The 2018 GMC Canyon is available in eight exterior colors: Dark Slate Metallic, Cardinal Red, Quicksilver Metallic, Summit White, Onyx Black, Red Quartz Tintcoat, Marine Blue Metallic, and Satin Steel Metallic.

Performance

When buying your 2018 GMC Canyon, there are a few engines to choose from. The base trim comes standard with a 2.5-liter I4 DI DOHC engine, paired to a six-speed manual transmission. This combination produces 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque. Available on the Canyon is a 3.6-liter V6 VVT engine; this engine becomes standard on the SLT. Paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, the V6 earns 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The SLT and above trims also offer a 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine.

Efficiency

The 2018 GMC Canyon stands out in its segment’s fuel economy ratings. Its standard 2.5-liter engine earns drivers up to 26 MPG on the highway and 19 MPG in the city. If you decide to upgrade to the V6, fuel economy will shift to 18/25 MPG City/Highway. However, the diesel is truly where the Canyon shines; its 3.6-liter diesel engine earns a best-in-class fuel economy rating for its segment, with up to 30 MPG on the highway at 22 MPG in the city.

Interior

With seating for up to five passengers, this four-door pickup offers premium features throughout the cabin. Advanced audio comes standard with a six-speaker system and GMC IntelliLink Radio, equipped with a 7-inch diagonal color touch screen. The base trim also offers Bluetooth streaming, Android Auto, Apple Carplay, and an auxiliary jack. If you’re interested in upgrading your sound even further, the Denali offers a Bose seven-speaker audio system, equipped with a touchscreen and navigation system.
