What’s new on the 2019 GMC Yukon XL?
For the 2019 model year, the GMC Yukon XL received a few more options. You can now choose from three new exterior colors: Dark Sky Metallic, Pepperdust Metallic, and Smokey Quartz Metallic. However, GMC has removed two other paint options — Mineral Metallic and Iridium Metallic. You can also opt for two new packages, the Yukon Graphite Edition and the Yukon Graphite Performance Edition, both exclusive to the SLT model. The Graphite Edition adds black and chrome accents to the Yukon XL, while the Performance package adds a beefier powertrain and a more robust infotainment system.
Exterior
The bold 2019 Yukon XL comes standard with features that are usually optional luxuries, including Premium Smooth Ride suspension, heated power outside mirrors, and Rainsense™ automatic wipers. Upgrade for conveniences like a hands-free power liftgate and IntelliBeam™ headlights, which automatically switch between high- and low-beam headlights, based on driving conditions. Choose the Denali trim, and your Yukon XL will boast some signature features, like a chrome grill, chrome accents, and signature lighting.

Powertrains and efficiency
Although the Yukon XL comes standard with two-wheel drive, you can opt for four-wheel drive. The Yukon XL’s standard 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, and comes mated to a six-speed automatic. The available 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 packs a little more punch — it delivers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, and comes paired with a 10-speed automatic. When equipped with two-wheel drive, the 5.3-liter engine earns 22 mpg highway, while the 6.2-liter mill nets 23 mpg highway.
