The latest vehicle in the Buick portfolio, the 2020 Encore GX, will arrive in Mexico in early 2020. Slotting between the Buick Encore and the Envision, the new Encore GX gives drivers more options from which to choose and gives Buick a deep roster of utility vehicles that appeal to a broad range of customers.

“Advanced engineering techniques and exceptional attention to detail made a more solid and lighter SUV possible, reducing the weight by approximately [192 pounds], which will deliver more agile and smoother handling,” said Buick, GMC, and Cadillac Marketing Manager Yammil Guaida.

Buick confirms that the version arriving in Mexico will likely be a higher trim offering as it will include a seven-speaker Bose premium sound system, wireless charging technology, 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, and High Definition Surround Vision camera system.

Details about the United States-specific Encore GX have thus far been somewhat sparse apart from the inclusion of driver-assistance features such as Front Pedestrian Braking, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. A report from GM Authority has the Encore GX getting two three-cylinder turbo engine options — a base 1.2-liter three-cylinder is expected to deliver 137 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque with front-wheel drive and a CVT, and an available 155-horsepower 1.3-liter turbo-three will be offered with the CVT and FWD as well as with a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

The 2020 Buick Encore GX is expected to arrive in all North American markets by early next year. Additional product info and pricing should be forthcoming in the next couple of months.
