2020 Chevy Silverado Turbodiesel Takes Top Spot on US News’ List of Trucks with Best Gas Mileage

Taking the top spot on the U.S. News & World Report’s list of the 16 Trucks with Best Gas Mileage is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado – Turbodiesel. But, that’s not the only Chevy truck the editors praised for its efficient fuel efficiency. Also included on the list were the 2020 Chevy Colorado – four-cylinder, 2020 Chevy Colorado – turbodiesel, and 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – turbocharged four-cylinder.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado – turbodiesel engine
When powered by the 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado easily snagged the number one spot on the U.S. News list thanks to its EPA-estimated fuel efficiency rating of 33 mpg on the highway. It gets a 23 mpg rating in the city.
“Its huge boost in torque helps the Silverado return the best fuel economy estimates in the full-size pickup truck segment,” according to U.S. News & World Report writers Steven Loveday and Liana Madrid. “In addition, when properly equipped, the Silverado with the turbodiesel engine can tow up to 9,300 pounds.”
2020 Chevrolet Colorado – four-cylinder engine

The 2020 Colorado is equipped with a 200 horsepower-rated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive offers a responsive driving performance. The EPA-estimated city mpg is 20 and 26 on the highway.

When powered by the available Duramax 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine, the 2020 Colorado earns a best-in-class EPA-estimated rating of 30 mpg on the highway.
“For a savings of about $1,200 over the GMC Canyon, you can get into a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado with the same fuel-efficient turbodiesel engine option,” according to Loveday and Madrid. “The Colorado is easy to drive thanks to its smooth ride and carlike handling.”

2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – turbocharged four-cylinder engine
There are six engine options for the 2020 Silverado 1500.
“If you want a Silverado with the turbo-four, choose the LT model, which also adds a Wi-Fi hotspot and two additional USB ports,” note Loveday and Madrid.
