Ford’s new program should give you one more reason to head to a dealership
The COVID-19 pandemic has definitely impacted both the auto industry and new-car buyers. In light of the economic uncertainty of the times, some consumers are postponing purchasing a new vehicle.
Some mainstream automakers, like Ford, are unrolling new incentives to help sweeten the deal for hesitant shoppers who are in need of a new ride. Here’s what you should know to take advantage of the Ford Promise program.

Ford designed the Ford Promise program for those who want a new vehicle but are apprehensive about the future, in light of current global events. “We want them to know we understand that, and we’re here to support them in their buying decisions,” said Mark LaNeve, vice president of U.S. marketing, sales, and service at Ford Motor Company.
According to WXYZ Detroit, the program protects those who lease or purchase a new Ford via Ford Credit financing and end up losing their job within a year after leasing/purchasing. In this unfortunate circumstance, the buyer can return their vehicle to the Ford dealership they got it from. Ford Credit will then appraise the vehicle’s worth based on the National Automobile Dealers Association’s average trade-in value. The dealership can then reduce the customer’s outstanding balance by that amount as well as up to $15,000 on top of that.
Like with any deal, this one has its caveats. The customer must pay any late or deferred payments, as well as vehicle damage fees. They’re also responsible for paying any difference that remains once the program’s incentives have been applied.
It’s worth noting that this deal has a deadline. Enrollment is open through Sept. 30, so you’ll have to act soon if you want the peace of mind that this program promises (no pun intended). But it’s a worthwhile deal to claim if you need a new Ford but also want a bit of extra assurance on your investment.
