Buick Achievers Scholarship Program Open for Applications
The annual Buick Achievers Scholarship Program has announced that it will be accepting applications from January 4th through 5 pm EST on Monday, February 29th. This marks the 6th year that the Buick Achievers Scholarship will be offered to students who may be pursuing degrees in the STEM fields.
“This scholarship has increased access and affordability of a college degree for thousands of students,” said Jackie Parker, president of the GM Foundation and director of GM Global Philanthropy and Corporate Giving. “And our country’s workforce is gaining qualified applicants who are prepared for the jobs of the future.”
The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is aimed specifically at students studying in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. It’s noted that additional considerations are made for students who are: female, minorities, first-generation college students, military veterans, and military dependents.
Since 2011, the GM Foundation-funded scholarship program has provided more than $28 million in scholarships to 3,450 students. This year’s program will add another 50 scholarships of up to $25,000 per year, renewable for up to four years (or five years for students enrolled in qualifying engineering programs).
