Buick Adds the ExxonMobil Speedpass+ App to Its Marketplace Interface
The latest app to be added to the Marketplace system allows drivers to pay for gas without ever swiping a credit card at the pump
During the month of August, families across the country head out on road trips to wrap up the summer before school is back in session. Yet, with August gas prices at a four-year high, stopping to fill up can take up time and money during a trip.
Buick wants to make the gas station experience easier and less stressful for its drivers. That’s why the automaker is teaming up with ExxonMobil to bring pay for fuel functionality to its Marketplace system.
What to Bring on Your Adventure: Road trip essentials
The latest update for Buick’s Marketplace interface adds the ExxonMobil Speedpass+ app to its suite of features. This system allows for motorists to pay for gas within their very own vehicle, all without swiping a card or activating their phone. Drivers can even accumulate rewards points with each purchase.
Of course, the ExxonMobil Speedpass+ app doesn’t work for every gas station. The service is compatible with more than 11,000 Exxon and Mobil gas stations located throughout the U.S.
To utilize the app, drivers will have to press the ExxonMobil icon withing the library of Marketplace functions. This will determine their location. Next, drivers just need to select the pump they are located at and their payment method.
Buick drivers who don’t already have an Exxon Mobil Speedpass+ account will be able to download the app free of charge throughout the Marketplace interface.

“Our goal with Marketplace is to help make everyday tasks as easy as possible for our customers so they can focus on enjoying time spent in their vehicles,” explained Rick Ruskin, Marketplace Line of Business leader for Buick. “Bringing the ExxonMobil pay for fuel functionality right on the touchscreen of our vehicles is the latest advancement of this platform.”
Buick’s partnership with ExxonMobil isn’t the only way the brand saves drivers time at the pump. All Buick vehicles come standard with capless gas tanks, allowing for quicker fill-ups.
If you’re planning a last-minute road trip of your own behind the wheel of a Buick, consider stopping for gas at any Exxon or Mobil stations you pass by during your on-road odyssey.
