China Gets First Look at 2020 Cadillac XT5
Cadillac recently introduced the 2020 XT5 crossover in China, giving customers a glimpse of what they can expect when the model comes out in the U.S.
On the exterior, the 2020 Cadillac XT5 features a new grille to match the ones found on the XT4 and the XT6. Cadillac says the rear spoiler, side mirrors, and intake have been redesigned to provide better aerodynamic performance.
Luxury trim versions of the XT5 feature bright accents on the roof rails, grille and side windows. Sport trim variants come with gloss black highlights. This is in line with Cadillac’s new “Y” trim strategy, which offers Sport and Luxury trim paths with diverging customization options.

Inside the cabin, the new XT5 boasts an updated Cadillac user experience infotainment system. This system can be controlled via touch screen or with a new, easy-to-reach rotary control on the center console. The XT5 can also be equipped with a new rearview camera mirror that displays streaming video of what’s behind the vehicle.
Under the hood, the Chinese version of the XT5 gets a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with Tripower variable valve management. This engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift and a manual shift paddle. It delivers 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.
It’s not clear yet whether this new powertrain will be included on the American version of the XT5, which currently carries a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine.
Cadillac hasn’t indicated yet when it will unveil the 2020 XT5 in the U.S., but expect the announcement to come sometime later this year.
