European-Bound Kia Sportage Makes Official Debut at Frankfurt Motor Show
There’s nothing quite like seeing a vehicle unveiling—especially when that vehicle is the newest Kia Sportage. While many people managed to catch a glimpse of the new European-bound Kia Sportage thanks to some crafty spy shots last month and the earlier release of a few teaser images from Kia, the pictures really don’t compare to those that have come out after the SUV’s official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Packing a completely refreshed look, the all-new Kia Sportage offers consumers a more sophisticated silhouette that is similar to that normally seen on German brands (think BMW X5). With improved quality, technology, and efficiency, it’s possible that the European Sportage might be the best offering in its segment.
To add to this crossover’s appeal, Kia is even offering European consumers a GT version. Offering a sportier driving experience, the Sportage GT can give even German-engineered vehicles a run for their money.
The Sportage’s Frankfurt debut also showcased its all-new 1.0-liter ecoTurbo gasoline engine, which is a three-cylinder that is mated with a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. We have yet to hear what the numbers are from this powertrain pairing, but it’s likely it will be close to about 100 horsepower or so.
