Celebrating the launch of its new Qualified Vehicle Modifier program, Ford Middle East in April held a Convertor Day at the Autodrome in Dubai. The event saw Ford bring more than 20 different upfitted commercial vehicles to show off to convertors, including variations on the popular Ranger, Transit, and Super Duty.

Among those in attendance at the event were vehicle modifiers, reps from companies specializing in vehicle conversion, and distributors for Ford Middle East. Major names on the scene included ambulance convertors like NAFFCO, refrigerated van and mobile service van convertor Al Furat, handicap-accessible bus convertor Inclusion Services, and armored vehicle convertor STREIT.

“The Ford Converter Day event is an important opportunity to really showcase the true versatility of Ford’s commercial vehicle range, but also to bring our distributors and converters together to help drive future business,” said Mahendra Menon, Regional Commercial Vehicles Operations Manager, Ford Middle East and Africa.

“To have so varied a range of conversions — from armored vehicles to refrigerated vans — highlights the viability of Ford as the vehicle of choice, regardless of our customer business demands,” Menon added.

The new Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier program lends accreditation to convertors and sets standard guidelines for upfitting Ford vehicles for commercial and non-commercial applications. The program originally launched to focus on emergency vehicles, but it has since expanded to multiple uses and iterations, including luxury passenger services and mobile repair vehicles.

Also on display at the Ford Convertor Day was DUBZ’s mobile baggage check-in service, which leverages the Ford Transit to make the process of flying easier for travelers.
