The all-new Ford Kuga earned the top score possible in the Euro NCAP by scoring a 92 percent for adult protection in crash testing and a perfect score in the lateral impact crash test. It also scored an overall 86 percent in child occupant protection, 82 percent for protection of vulnerable road users, and 73 percent for safety assist. Per the Euro NCAP test results, a Kuga with Intelligent All Wheel Drive and the available 2.0-liter TDCi diesel engine was tested, but the score applies to all variants.

Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP’s Secretary General, praised Ford for fitting the Kuga with standard automatic emergency braking technology, which is offered as part of Ford Co-Pilot360. Every Ford Kuga features Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, which earned high marks in all phases of testing.

“New Kuga offers cutting-edge new features and technologies that will help drivers stay connected, comfortable, safe and stylish on the road,” said Joe Bakaj, vice president, Product Development, Ford of Europe. “The sophisticated redesign has given Kuga a fresh and modern feel, while SYNC 3 enables drivers to communicate with their vehicle and connected devices in seamless ways that would have seemed impossible just a few years ago.”

Ford Co-Pilot360 also includes Lane-Keeping System with Road Edge Detection, Cross Traffic Alert, Evasive Steering Assist, Wrong Way Alert, and Adaptive Front Lighting System.

In November, the Euro NCAP rated the 2020 Ford Explorer Plug-In Hybrid five stars for safety.
