Ford South Africa Gets Its Best Sales of 2017 in November Thanks to Ranger, Everest, EcoSport
Ford Motor Company South Africa delivered a 15-vehicle increase over 2016 with sales totaling 7,260 vehicles in November. This marks the automaker’s single best month thus far for 2017, allowing Ford to capture a 14.5% market share for September and grow its year-to-date market share in South Africa to 12.7%.
Ford’s retail sales totaled 5,190 vehicles, down 8.5% from November 2016; fleet sales were up 54.3% at 1,926 vehicles delivered; passenger vehicles were up 20.9% at 4,138 units; and light commercial vehicles were down 18.2% at 3,115 vehicles sold.

“There are encouraging signs of marginal recovery in the new passenger car segment, with November taking it to six consecutive months of growth,” said Neale Hill, Director of Marketing, Sales, and Service. “However, the significant year-on-year decline in the light and medium commercial vehicle segments is a cause for concern, and reflects the negative business and economic sentiment. It was a good month for Ford, reaching our highest sales for the year. The Ranger exceeded 3,000 units once again, the Everest attained its best-ever sales, and the EcoSport reached its highest volume for 2017.”
It was indeed a strong showing from the Ford Ranger, which racked up 3,058 domestic sales and 6,286 exports, the latter of which was 8.8% better than exports from November 2016 and good for Ford’s second highest total of exports in company history.
Everest sales totaled 669 vehicles, and EcoSport sales totaled 1,324 vehicles. Also seeing a strong sales performance in November was the Fiesta, which saw deliveries totaling 1,063 vehicles to top the four-figure sales mark for just the sixth time in 2017.
