Genesis Dominates 2019 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

An annual industry study that tracks the quality of new vehicles has once again ranked Genesis No. 1.
For the second straight year, Genesis is the top premium brand and top overall automotive brand among customers surveyed in the J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS).
“Our customers are number one — period — so it is extremely gratifying to receive recognition from them and, in turn, from industry leader J.D. Power,” said Erwin Raphael, chief operating officer for Genesis Motor America.
Among individual models, the all-new 2019 Genesis G70 recorded the highest initial quality in the compact premium car segment. Customers cited in the IQS were especially impressed by the G70’s features and displays, interior and exterior, and infotainment system.

“We are extremely thrilled to be recognized for highest quality by J.D. Power for two consecutive years — particularly considering we are a relatively young brand,” said Manfred Fitzgerald, executive vice president and global head of Genesis. “This is a testament toward our promise to deliver the most desirable products for our customers. We will continue to hold our products, brand, and customer experience to the highest standard in all facets.”
In keeping its No. 1 ranking from 2018, Genesis also bettered its study performance from a year ago. The IQS surveys customers to identify problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) over the first 90 days of ownership. Genesis vehicles recorded 63 PP100 — five fewer than in 2018.
The G70 did even better, with just 60 PP100. That’s more than 30 PP100 better than the average for vehicles in its segment.
