It’s Too Late to Get Your Own MX-5 RF Launch Edition
The time for securing your own MX-5 RF Launch Edition has now passed—Mazda North American Operations announced that it has sold all the allocated 1,000 2017 MX-5 Miata RF Launch Editions two weeks after it was first opened to select Mazda customers.
In the first round, where buyers were each personally invited to secure their own Launch Edition, more than 500 customers put down deposits. Once open to the public, the last of the vehicles sold out in just 13 hours. So, if you had been deliberating over whether or not you should get in on that special edition, the decision has now been made—it is officially too late.
The vehicles will be shipped in early 2017, and not surprisingly, two thirds (67%) of the buyers opted for the manual transmission.

That leaves only two trim levels for the MX-5 RF: Club and Grand Touring. The Grand Touring is much like the Launch Edition (the Launch Edition model was based on the Grand Touring trim level), and the Club model slots in below. The RF will carry over most of the features currently offered on the soft-top models, but with a few changes such as a 4.6-inch full-color TFT gauge, 7-inch MAZDA CONNECT infotainment system, nine-speaker BOSE audio system, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, LED head- and taillights, Machine Gray Metallic paint, and Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert for all MX-5 Club models regardless of roof choice.
