The new electric C-Class is part of Mercedes-Benz’s broader effort to position battery-powered models alongside its traditional combustion-engine sedans rather than as separate products. The first announced version, the dual-motor C400 4Matic, starts at €67,711, or roughly $76,700, in Germany.

Mercedes also confirmed that additional variants are planned, including a more efficient single-motor configuration designed to maximize driving range while lowering the entry price compared with the all-wheel-drive model.

Rear-Wheel-Drive Version Targets Longer Range

Mercedes-Benz stated that the future single-motor electric C-Class will offer a WLTP-rated range of around 497 miles (800 km). That figure exceeds the previously announced 473-mile (762 km) WLTP rating of the C400 4Matic.

According to InsideEVs, WLTP measurements generally produce higher range estimates than the EPA testing cycle used in the United States. The publication noted that a WLTP figure approaching 500 miles would likely translate to more than 400 miles under EPA testing if the vehicle reaches the U.S. market.

The dual-motor C400 4Matic focuses more heavily on performance. Mercedes says the sedan can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4 seconds. The upcoming rear-wheel-drive version is expected to emphasize efficiency and lower operating costs rather than outright speed.

Mercedes Details Expensive Option Packages

Mercedes-Benz also released pricing for several optional packages available on the electric C-Class. The AMG Line package costs €3,451, or about $3,900, and replaces the standard 18-inch wheels with 19-inch AMG aero wheels while adding revised bumpers and side skirts.

Buyers seeking AMG sports seats must opt for the AMG Line Plus package, priced at €7,556, or approximately $8,600. This version includes different 19-inch wheels along with multiple AMG-branded interior and exterior elements.

The optional MBUX Hyperscreen costs €1,487, or around $1,700. The system replaces the standard three-screen dashboard with a 39.1-inch pillar-to-pillar display. An augmented reality head-up display is available for an additional €1,249, or about $1,400.

Mercedes also offers an Agility and Comfort Package priced at €2,844, or roughly $3,200. The package includes air suspension and rear-wheel steering.

High-Performance AMG Model Also Planned

Mercedes-Benz confirmed that more powerful versions of the electric C-Class are under development, including an AMG model intended to compete with BMW’s future high-performance electric sedans.

The AMG variant is expected to use a tri-motor setup producing around 800 horsepower. The publication also noted that a fully equipped C400 configured with optional equipment can exceed €96,000, or approximately $109,000.

The electric C-Class enters a segment where driving range has become a major competitive factor among luxury manufacturers. Mercedes acknowledged competition from BMW, whose i3 electric sedan is capable of delivering up to 559 miles (900 km) of WLTP range in dual-motor form.
