Get Excited: About these updates coming to the 2019 Mercedes lineup
Mercedes-Benz sales executive Britta Seeger says that the three-row compact is a perfect fit for Chinese society because its culture demands vehicles that haul around large households.
“It is essential in China where that we offer the GLB as a seven-seater,” Seeger told reporters at the 2019 New York Auto Show. “You know why the Chinese are demanding the seven seaters in the different aspects? That’s really interesting because they have different life situation because they are living together with the one-child policy.”
According to Seeger, multiple generations in a family live together in one house. This accumulates on average to the likes of four grandparents, two parents, and one child. Mercedes-Benz is complementing this common lifestyle with a sport utility vehicle that accommodates a huge family.
The GLB SUV is 182 inches long, resembling the scope of a Honda CR-V but slightly smaller than its big sibling — the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV.
