Nissan and City Football Group Announce Five-Year Parternship
Nissan and City Football Group have signed a five-year agreement that will make Nissan the Official Automotive Partner of City Football Group. For those not in the know, CFG is comprised of Premier League Champions Manchester City FC, Manchester City Women’s FC, New York City FC, Melbourne City FC, and Yokohama F・Marinos, of which Nissan is the majority owner.
“Nissan has always been immensely proud of its place in Yokohama F・Marinos history and is now privileged to be part of the story of CFG and their network of fantastic global football teams,” said Carlos Ghosn, Nissan President and CEO. “This innovative partnership enhances Nissan’s investment in the game of soccer which is a key platform to further strengthen our brand globally. Additionally, the value in kind deal will see Nissan introduce the world’s best-selling electric vehicle to the world’s fastest growing football team, an example of how the collaboration will pair innovation with innovation to bring the excitement of Nissan and soccer to customers around the world.”

While Nissan is already a noted presence for Yokohama F・Marinos (they play their home games at Nissan Stadium, after all), this is a major coup in that it will allow the brand to interact with City’s rabid fan base and capitalize on their recent successes.
Nissan and City Football Group came to an agreement back in May that allowed CFG to take a minority stake in Yokohama F・Marinos, allowing the group to become involved in the J-League.
