Outlander PHEV Is 2020 Family Green Car of the Year Finalist
Green Car Journal recently announced that the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is one of the finalists for the 2020 Family Green Car of the Year award. This latest recognition comes just over a year after the Outlander PHEV won the Green Car Journal award for 2019 Green SUV of the Year.
Details on the award
The new 2020 Family Green Car of the Year award is being presented during the 2019 San Antonio Auto & Truck Show. The vehicle given this prestigious title must be for a family and also have green attributes that help make a positive environmental impact.
As a whole, the show’s Green Car Awards shine a light on new vehicles that are environmentally friendly. A vehicle is chosen as a finalist for standing out from the other competitors currently on the market. Green Car Journal considers each finalist a 2020 Green Car Product of Excellence.
The Outlander PHEV earned its place among the other finalists for combining the usefulness of a crossover with the fuel efficiency expected of an electric vehicle. Driving a fuel-efficient vehicle lets you save money on gas and accordingly is better for the environment. The SUV pairs a gas motor to the 22-mile all-electric driving range to get a combined EPA-estimated 74 mpg-e.
With the Mitsubishi Super All-Wheel Control System, the SUV keeps you stable and in control on a variety of road conditions. Mitsubishi even modified the S-AWC system to fit the SUV’s specific twin electric motor configuration. As such, the Outlander PHEV can have optimal traction, safety, and performance.
On November 21, the winner of the 2020 Family Green Car of the Year award will be announced at the 2019 San Antonio Auto & Truck Show during a press conference.
