Slayer Unleash Branded NASCAR Racer at Bristol Motor Speedway
Things that are super American: NASCAR, hotdogs, baseball, and Slayer. If you were lucky enough to be present at last weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, you got to enjoy at least two of these super American things at the same time (three if you also ate a hotdog). On that fateful night, thrash metal band Slayer revealed their branded No. 54 Chevrolet to be driven by JJ Yeley with the Rick Ware Racing Team.
Fast Cars: Is the 2019 Chevy Camaro for you?
Last month, fellow thrash metal band Megadeth unveiled their own branded NASCAR racer to be driven by Tyler Reddick for Richard Childress Racing. That leads us to wonder which of the Big Four will be the next to join forces with NASCAR. Perhaps a Toyota branded with a Metallica-inspired sandman? An Anthrax-branded Dodge? We can only hope.
“NASCAR racing and Slayer have a lot in common,” explained Slayer’s Kerry King. “Both are extremely fast, intense and aggressive. I can think of nothing more rad than seeing the Slayer logo on Rick’s car with JJ behind the wheel. I’m sure disciples of everyone involved will be completely stoked on the bond between these two fierce entities!”
American Power: What is a heavy-duty truck?
These two fierce entities have an exciting season ahead of them. The NASCAR Xfinity Series runs through November, while Slayer will board their tour bus as they embark on the latest leg of their last-ever tour over the next few months. We only hope they have time to keep up with NASCAR while they’re on the road.
