‘Supernatural’ Fan Wins Metallicar Replica at 2019 Comic-Con
Anyone who watches the hit CW show Supernatural knows that Dean Winchester’s Chevy Impala is a member of the family (as well as the family business). Dean’s Baby is with the Winchester brothers through thick and thin, and comes back even when Dean takes out his grief on it with a crowbar following the death of his father. The show might own nine Impalas, but in fans’ hearts there is only one Metallicar.

Supernatural fans at San Diego Comic-Con last month got to see a miniature replica of Dean’s Impala. It matched the 1967 classic car down to its chrome accents, rubber tires, and metal chassis. And one lucky fan even got to take home a life-size replica of the Metallicar.
During the convention, Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles (Dean) and Jared Padalecki (Sam) announced that Laura Dittrich from Oregon was the new owner of a classic 1967 Chevrolet Impala, which was restored to its original glory by Kansas-based “The Shop.” The replica is the spitting image of the show’s Impala, right down to its hidden demon-fighting weapon compartment in the truck and painted pentagram on the underside of the trunk lid.
The Metallicar replica was a rust bucket before The Shop’s Rich Blevins and Don and Michael Welsh got their hands on it. In just two months, they restored the Impala from the inside out, turning it into every Supernatural fan’s dream car. You can see the rebuild from start to finish in The Shop’s album on its Facebook page.
