Team Record the Journey’s performance

Team Record the Journey was comprised of U.S. Army and Air Force Veterans Rachael Ridenour and Karah Behrend. Behrend drove the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, which was equipped with hand-controls. As such, she was the Rebelle Rally’s first adaptive-athlete driver to not only compete but also make the podium.

Over the course of the eight-day rally raid, both Ridenour and Behrend had great communication, navigation, and driving skills. They received 1,265 points in total, earning them second place in the Crossover Utility Vehicle class. After their competitors voted them the most inspirational team, they also won the 2019 Rebelle Rally Team Spirit Award.

The partnership between Team Record the Journey and Mitsubishi was a part of the Mitsubishi “Small Batch – Big Impact” program. Kimberley Gardiner, vice president and chief marketing officer, MMNA, said, “The determination and unwavering passion Rachael and Karah have for helping others embodies exactly what is at the core of our “Small Batch – Big Impact’ program.”

To get the Eclipse Cross ready for the Rebelle Rally, BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires and Vision Wheel Vision Cross wheels were added to the SUV. The Eclipse Cross also received a cargo basket, a Thule roof rack, an LED light bar, a bash bar, and a skid plate. Ability Center of Orange County mounted Featherlite by Sure Grip hand controls so that Behrend could drive.

Models to Consider: Benefits of an SUV

Now that the 2019 Rebelle Rally has concluded, Behrend and Ridenour will be able to use the Eclipse Cross for the nonprofit Record the Journey.
