If you’re excited by the recent news that Ford is offering a 2.3L Performance Package, which nicely bridges the gap between the entry-level Mustang EcoBoost and the mighty Mustang GT, then you’ll be all the more thrilled to learn it’s not gonna cost you all that much extra.

CarsDirect got hold of order guides for the upcoming 2020 Ford Mustang and discovered that the new Performance Package will start at $4,995, making the 2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost 2.3L Performance Package $32,760 with destination fees. For that, you get a 330-horsepower 2.3-liter EcoBoost that enables a mid-four-second 0-60 mph sprint and a 34 mph higher top speed than the base Mustang EcoBoost.

What is EcoBoost? A quick run through what Ford’s EcoBoost technology is and does

“It’s not just the horsepower gains over the standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost, it’s the broader torque curve that delivers 90 percent of peak torque between 2,500 and 5,300 rpm, which is 40 percent wider than the base EcoBoost engine,” said Mustang chief engineer Carl Widmann. “Plus, horsepower holds stronger up to the 6,500-rpm redline — enabling more usable power and torque for enthusiasts and weekend autocrossers to enjoy.”

The 2020 Ford Mustang 2.3L Performance Package also includes an alloy strut tower brace, larger four-piston fixed brake calipers with the Mustang GT’s 13.9-inch front rotors, a 32-millimeter sway bar, a 21.7-millimeter rear tubular bar, a 3.55:1 limited-slip rear axle, 19-inch machined-face aluminum wheels with summer tires, recalibrated performance software, a black front splitter, blacked out grille, and other unique aesthetic touches. So, for about five grand, you’re getting a pretty big heft up from the Mustang EcoBoost.

Ford spokesperson Jiyan Cadiz confirmed CarsDirect’s numbers, so you can pretty much take this to the bank. As for whether it’d be better to get the 2020 Ford Mustang 2.3L Performance Package with the Handling Package, the 2020 Mustang GT, or just go nuts and get the Shelby GT500, it’s a free country!
