Yes — 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata is Back With MORE
Finally, the rumors can be put to rest. The iconic Mazda MX-5 Miata is back, and this little roadster is not so little anymore, officially bringing more power, more designs, and more safety features to 2019.
The first in a long list of updates is the engine. Using the same MX-5 SKYACTIV®-G 2.0-liter engine as before, the Miata will now experience a more thrilling performance as it delivers 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque with the redline increasing from 6,800 rpm to 7,500 rpm. By reducing the internal mass and friction and exhaust loss while improving combustion and the transmission’s final drive ratio, Mazda engineers have found a way to increase the performance and feel of this roadster to be more responsive, smooth, and engaging.
In addition to this refined powertrain, the new MX-5 features a visual upgrade as well, complete with new black metallic 17-inch wheels, a telescoping steering wheel, and an available brown canvas soft top, as revised door steps, cupholders, and seat levers elevate the style with comfort and ease.
All these improvements would not mean anything if you weren’t kept safe, which is why the 2019 Miata introduces more safety technologies throughout the trim levels. With a new, standard rearview mirror and available i-ACTIVSENSE™ features such as Traffic Sign Recognition and Smart City Brake Support, the MX-5 is committed to helping you drive with confidence as you enjoy this exhilarating ride.
With the Miata’s sleek innovations, Mazda upholds its Jinba Ittai philosophy of the “horse and rider as one” and complements its signature KODO Soul of Motion design language that brings this roadster to life.
These enhanced improvements make this convertible one of the hottest cars to come. Look for the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata in dealerships once it goes on sale in the U.S. this fall.
