Earlier this month, Cadillac ended a successful IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season by sweeping the IMSA DPi Class for 2018. Three teams took those four wins at a variety of races across the country. First, the Mustang Sampling Cadillac team won the Rolex 24 at Daytona followed by a victory at Long Beach. At the Detroit Grand Prix, the Whelen Engineering Cadillac team took first place on the streets of Belle Isle. To round out the wins, the Konica Minolta Cadillac team had the top spot at the Petit Le Mans.

Speaking of Prototypes: Here’s what we know about the Cadillac CT5 concept

“What a year for this Whelen Engineering Cadillac team,” Eric Curran said. “We finished second at Sebring and won in Detroit. Felipe is a great teammate and a fast driver. Gabby and Mike helped out in the long races and the Action Express team, the best in the business, prepares a great Cadillac and makes all of the right calls. It was a great season.”

“When I left Formula 1 I took the time to reflect on my career and where I think I could go and win races,” Nasr said. “I contacted Gary Nelson at Action Express and the next thing I knew I was testing their Cadillac. It is amazing that we won the championship in my first year with the team. These guys are professional and the Cadillac race car is amazing.”

After winning the season thanks to those four wins and seven podium finishes, the Cadillac teams are looking to the future. The next official on-track event will take place in 2019 at the Roar Before the 24 test from Jan. 4-6. At the Rolex 24 in Daytona (Jan. 24-27), Cadillac will have seven DPi-V.R prototype race cars ready to take the top spots.
