Muscle Cars & Trucks recently reported that the CT4-V and CT5-V high-performance sedans will both offer six-speed manual transmissions. Here’s what we know so far about these two Cadillac models.

Spacious and Sophisticated: Meet the Cadillac XT6

Contrary to the rumors we’d been hearing, these two models will not boast the 4.2-liter “Blackwing” V8 engine. Apparently, this exclusive engine option we saw in the CT6-V was a one-time deal for the brand — at least, for now. (In case you were wondering, GM’s decision to retire the Blackwing V8 was mostly due to cost concerns, as the brand announced earlier this year).

Instead, the CT4-V will get a 3.6-liter twin-turbo LF4 V6, while the CT5-V will get a 6.2-liter LT4 V8, as MC&T confirms. You can then pair it with either the six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission options, depending on your preference. And both models will have rear-wheel drive.

The CT5-V’s engine should deliver even more horsepower than the Blackwing V8

Interestingly enough, the 6.2-liter V8 the CT5-V takes its cue from the Corvette C7 Z06 and Camaro ZL1. According to The Drive, this engine will enable the CT5-V to churn out 650 horsepower. That’s 100 horsepower more than the CT6-V’s Blackwing V8 engine yielded.

Though some Caddy fans are still disappointed that these two models won’t be getting the Blackwing V8 engine, the confirmed engines these models will sport promise to supply a gratifying dose of power that should satisfy most speed demons. And the brand’s offering of a manual transmission on one of their cutting-edge performance products hasn’t happened since 2015 when Cadillac discontinued the second-gen CTS-V. So, it’s an interesting trajectory for the automaker to explore with the CT4-V and CT5-V.
