With phase two underway in the restoration and transformation of Michigan Central Station, Ford grows closer to launching its new campus in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit. To ensure that the automaker is engaged with the community and project stakeholders, Ford recently opened a new information center in Corktown at The Factory, the home of autonomous vehicle development unit Team Edison.

The Corktown information center opened in June and is open to the public from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. There, residents and interested parties alike will be able to find information on the Corktown development project, the programs and initiatives that Ford is working on, and ongoing community initiatives. One such example of the latter is the Ford City:One Michigan Central Station Challenge, which launched in June.

Ford acquired Michigan Central Station and other Corktown properties in June 2018, announcing that they would comprise a 1.2-million-square-foot campus that would house 2,500 Ford employees. Just before the announcement, Ford moved the teams responsible for electrified vehicle and autonomous vehicle development into The Factory at 1907 Michigan Avenue.

“We’ve learned a lot from local residents and businesses over the past year as we further our plans for the development of Michigan Central Station,” said Mary Culler, Detroit development director for Ford Motor Company. “Our new information center will provide an ongoing opportunity to share our plans, celebrate the culture of the area and continue learning from the community. In this historic neighborhood, we’re building a place where people can solve real-world challenges and create future opportunities together.”
