Ford just experienced a really good month in the UK this past June. How good? So good that it was Ford’s best June in the United Kingdom since 1989. Yes, the best June since Taylor Swift was still six months away from being born.

According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders’ (SMMT) June sales figures, Ford extended its market lead in June with its best car sales for the month in 12 years, its best June CV sales ever, and another high-volume month for the Fiesta.

Overall car sales in June were up 12.9% with 257,817 units sold. Ford’s car sales totaled 33,055 units, a full 3,033 registrations ahead of the next closest brand. Fiesta topped all UK sales with 12,543 sales, up 11,213 units from the year prior.

“I am delighted that, as the UK market records its 40th consecutive month of growth, we have consolidated and extended our long-standing UK market leadership,” said Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director.

“We have invested consistently in exciting products and industry-leading technologies that are delivered through the strongest UK dealer network,” Barratt added. “Our extended CV range is providing outstanding sales results and the roll out of new models includes C-MAX, S-MAX, Galaxy, Mustang and Mondeo Vignale.”

Overall commercial vehicle sales were up 18.4% with 41,023 units sold, and Ford accounted for 10,547 units of that total. Light commercial vehicle sales totaled 2,230 units, and medium commercial vehicles totaled 8,317 units.
